2 Ways To Use Strawberries To Make Your Teeth White And Sparkly

Dentist Blog

Nothing complements red-colored lips like a pearly white smile does. Sadly, most whitening treatments are harsh to the teeth. However, there are two ways to use fresh strawberries for teeth whitening that are gentler. This is not just pain-free, but also inexpensive.

How Strawberries Whiten Teeth

Strawberries contain malic acid – an astringent that aids in removing surface discoloration on our teeth. Dentists have agreed to this, and said that the fruit also has citric acid, for the weakening surface hardness of our teeth. Malic acid is gentler and balances out the teeth's needs. The riper the strawberries, the higher the concentration of malic acid is.

The best treatment is possible when the strawberries are ripe enough, and can make the teeth exfoliate well. The fruit removes superficial debris, although, the acids will not breakdown stain molecules. They simply make the appearance whiter.

Method One

This first method using strawberries also uses the gentle abrasiveness of baking soda to whiten your teeth.

  1. Crush the 1 ripe strawberry well enough to obtain pulpy consistency. Add 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda and blend well.

  2. Take a soft toothbrush and add the mix to it. Now take the toothbrush and gently brush your teeth.

  3. Let it stay for 3–5 minutes, and don't wash it like usual paste. After the allotted time is over, have your mouth washed well.

  4. Now brush with toothpaste. Floss out stray seeds if stuck within the teeth.

Repeat this remedy no more than once a week. Acid content can damage tooth enamel if overdone.

Method 2

This second method simply uses a strawberry. This is ideal if baking soda is something you either do not have or don't want to use.

  1. Mash 1 ripe strawberry.

  2. Dip toothbrush in it to add sufficient content.

  3. Brush gently.

  4. Use warm water for cleansing the mouth.

  5. Let the qualities work for 3 minutes, after which you can wash off.

  6. Use toothpaste and cleanse your mouth like regular wash.

Since baking soda is not added, it is not advisable to let the content stick to the teeth for more than the specified time. This remedy will start to show a difference after 2 weeks.

Using either of the above methods of using strawberries to whiten your teeth may be most effective on lightly stained teeth. However, if you have darker stains, you may want to discuss the options available with your local cosmetic dentist.

Understanding Dental Problems

Do you have "bad teeth"? I do. Ever since I was a kid, every checkup turns up a number of issues ranging from cavities to dental fractures. It has always been frustrating to keep my smile in decent shape, which is one of the reasons I started focusing on understanding different dental problems. I wanted to know what I was getting into when I visited the doctor, so I began focusing on learning as much as I could. I wanted to create this blog all about dentistry so that other people could find out what to expect when they head to the dentist. Check it out!
